Medical Binders
Medical binders are used for:
- Weakened abdominal musculature
- Weakened back musculature (lumbar & lower thoracic)
- Pressure support for lower GI motility for bowel & bladder evacuation
- Positive pressure to improve/develop deep diaphragmatic breathing
- Extra back support for bariatric patients
- Surgical recovery requiring light to medium compression
FotoLum medical binders are manufactured using
white plush medical elastic that is comfortable against the skin or over a
shirt. Velcro closure allows the binder to provide adjustable levels of
support.
The binders are available in the following sizes:
- Pediatric - Extra Small through 2X Large
- Adult - Extra Small through 4X Large
Additional options include Mickey Hole to protect
patient port, and support stays to provide additional back support.

Determining Binder
Size
The width of the binder is determined by
measuring the distance from the Zyphoid Process to Sacroiliac Crest, or from the
bottom of the sternum to the hip bone.
The circumference is determined by measuring
around the stomach at the widest point , typically at the belly
button.
Mickey Hole placement is determined by
measuring from the belly button over to the center of the port (indicate right
or left side). Also provide height above or below the level of the belly button.
